My name is Heidi…
From the moment I enlisted in the military, something in me shifted. The decision wasn't easy—leaving behind the familiar to dive into the unknown was never a light choice. But I was driven by a deeper sense of purpose, a desire to serve, protect, and grow. The early days were tough: long hours, rigorous training, and the pressure of proving myself. But through it all, I discovered resilience, discipline, and a sense of camaraderie I had never known before. The military shaped me in ways that still influence who I am today, but it also planted a seed—a desire to help people in a more direct, intimate way.
While stationed overseas, I had a chance to observe the medical teams at work. I was in awe of their ability to comfort, heal, and save lives under the most extreme conditions. It was there, in the midst of chaos, that I made the decision that would change the trajectory of my life: I was going to become a nurse. I wanted to be on the frontlines not just as a soldier, but as someone who could make a real difference in the lives of others.
Transitioning from the military to nursing school was no small feat. It was a world of textbooks, lectures, clinical rotations, and the unyielding challenge of mastering new skills. But my military background—my ability to focus, my discipline, and my unshakable determination—helped me rise to the occasion. I learned to balance the technical aspects of nursing with the emotional intelligence required to truly care for patients. Every shift brought new challenges, but with each challenge came growth.
As I stepped into my role as a nurse, the feeling of fulfillment was immediate. I found joy in comforting patients, in easing their fears, and in using my knowledge and hands to heal. The connection between my military training and my nursing career became clear. Both were about service, both required a deep sense of duty, and both taught me the importance of teamwork and leadership.
But I didn't stop there. My curiosity pulled me toward new frontiers. I had always been interested in technology and innovation. I began experimenting with 3D printing on the side. I fell in love with it, and with that, began a new skill to help with 3d printing, 3D modeling.
I’m not just a nurse. I’m a pioneer—constantly learning, adapting, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. And as I continue to 3D print on the side, I can’t help but wonder what the next chapter of my story will bring.
The future, as always, is wide open.
